Education

  • BS degree in Mathematics from Spring Hill College(1959)
  • MA degree in Mathematics from University of Alabama(1961)
  • PhD degree in Mathematics from University of Florida(1965)

Teaching Interests

  • Mathematics at all levels, from developmental to graduate
  • Interest in teaching present and future teachers
  • Specific areas of mathematics interest are Number Theory, Abstract Algebra and Geometry

Professional Interests

Most of my research publications (over 40) have been in pure number theory. The others have been a combinations of number theory and abstract algebra. I have also written several textbooks for specific purposes, used on and off campus. Most recently was a text for geometry with applications in teaching high school geometry.

Personal Interests

My personal interests also revolve about math (I love working the number theory oriented problems in various professional magazines), with one strong avocation that is totally unrelated. I thoroughly enjoy gardening, both indoors and outdoors. House cleaning is at the very bottom of my list.
All three of my children, Katie, Polly, and Michael are EKU graduates. The last two have degrees in math from here (I still don't know what I did wrong with Kate!). Clearly I believe we have a great program and hope people will check it out for themselves!.
