To graph the inverse of a function we use GRAPH/DRAW/DrInv
Graph the inverse of the function f(x) = x3
- Graph the function (see Graphing Functions) as y1.
- Lets get a better view of this by changing the window to xMin=-3, xMax=3,
yMin=-3, and yMax=3 and then fix the display to use the same units on the
x and y axis by selecting GRAPH/ZOOM/ZSQR.
- Choose the option GRAPH/DRAW/DrInv (this is the last option in
DRAW so you have to press the MORE key several times). Now
type in the function name y1 (press
(for y)
) and
then ENTER. DrInv draws the inverse of y1 (highlighted
below in blue).
You can draw the inverse of any function directly by typing its definition after DrInv. For example select GRAPH/DRAW/DrInv and then type in x^3 to get the inverse of the function f(x) = x3.
