Hood Softball Field

The Hood Softball Field is named to honor Gertrude Hood, a pioneer in the physical education area for women. She served EKU for 45 years (1928-1972) and was instrumental in the development of women's athletics at both the intramural and intercollegiate levels. She built the women's field hockey team in 1928, and in 1948 she organized the Women's Recreational Association. Hood Field is the home field of the Eastern Kentucky University Woman's Softball Team , coached by Jane Worthington .
