John Grant Crabbe Library

John Grant Crabbe Library

Thomas and Hazel Little Building

Named to honor John Grant Crabbe who served from 1910 to 1916 as Eastern's second president. It was built in 1928 at a cost of $67,000. During the 1965-66 academic year, it's holdings were moved to other locations around campus, and a $2,5000,000 renovation project was completed. The library contains a law library, Learning Resource Center, and the Jonathan Towsend Collection of rare Kentucky books and artifacts. The University Archives is located in the basement. If you are ever on campus for an extended visit you might want to visit the Archives to get a look at a complete history of EKU and Richmond. A new 80,000-square-foot addition (right photo) was completed in 1995. Named the Thomas and Hazel Little Building to honor a Virginia couple, both Paint Lick natives and graduates of Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College, who devoted their lives to education. Students and faculty donated over $200,000 towards this new addition. Currently there is a campaign to raise funds to renovate the older part of the library and establish an endowment for books and periodicals.
