Granny Richardson Springs One-Room School
The Granny Richardson Springs School, common school District No. 58, Estill
County, opened in July 1900 and closed in May 1964. The school was named after
the widow Richardson, an admirable pioneer lady who was the
great-great-grandmother of Mollie Stephens West who started to this school
in 1909. The preservation of this one-room school is in commemoration of the
one-room schools of Kentucky.
